Direct Insurance Claims

We offer a Direct Insurance Claims service, where we submit your invoices directly to your insurer and handle the claim process on your behalf, saving you time and effort.

You will continue to receive copies of all estimates and invoices related to your pet's treatments. If your policy includes an excess or co-pay, this amount will be billed to you directly at the time of treatment. The remaining balance will be submitted to your insurer. If you reach your policy limit, you will then be asked to start paying your invoices at each visit.

Please be aware that any claims rejected by the insurer will remain your responsibility to settle. Additionally, any claims not resolved within 12 weeks will need to be paid by you.

This is a completely free service and is available to all clients who's patients are already registered with an insurance provider.

What we need from you:

· A copy of your pet’s current insurance certificate.

· A complete and signed claim form OR claim information if your company process claims online, at the time of each treatment.

· Permission to discuss your claim with your insurer. You will need to call them to give us permission otherwise they will be unable to process our claims submitted on your behalf.

Consultations

Our initial referral consultation is an in-practice appointment and includes a pre-consultation case review, the 45 minute consultation including a patient check up, an initial prognosis and an overview of the possible treatment options and their associated risks and benefits. A detailed report will also be sent to both you the owner, and your pets first opinion practice, summarising the consultation advice.

Initial referral consultations with one of our oncologists are £277.

Imaging and Diagnostics

We use an onsite, human grade, 64 slice CT scanner which allows rapid scans with excellent image quality. CT scans are typically forwarded to an external imaging service where certified radiologists review the scans and provide detailed reports back to our oncologists. We will keep you informed of the progress and notify you promptly once the results are received, so that we can plan the appropriate next steps in your pet's care. In addition to CT imaging, we have a state-of-the-art ultrasound scanner and on-site laboratory facilities, including a video microscope. These resources allow us to perform a variety of rapid blood tests and obtain timely results, as well as conduct microscopic examinations of slides as necessary.

CT scans start at £2,400

Ultrasound scans start at £336 (or £600 if done with samples)

X-rays start at £300

Surgery

Surgical procedures may range from tumour removals and skin reconstructions to major abdominal or thoracic surgeries. Equipped with advanced technology such as electro-cautery units, our team is able to perform surgeries more safely and efficiently. Our post-operative hospitalisation is managed by Donaldson’s Vets night team. Your pet will be transferred to the hospital upstairs, where a comprehensive handover will be provided to Donaldson's team along with an overnight care plan. This approach ensures our patients receive continuous care, which is essential for the successful execution of advanced surgical procedures.

Surgery can cost anywhere between £2400 and £6000, plus any hospitalisation costs and medicines. Whilst a general cost cannot be provided without detailed case information, we will provide a full estimate for all recommended treatment options as part of the initial consultation.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy treatments are administered onsite in our quiet and comfortable treatment room, using our years of experience to make your pet's visits as pleasant as possible.

On admission a clinical exam will be carried out and a blood sample taken to assess levels of red and white blood cells. If your pet is due for an intravenous agent, a local anaesthetic cream will be applied over two vein sites ready for catheterisation. The blood sample will be checked, and if we are able to proceed with treatment, your pet will be given an anti-emetic to minimise the risk of nausea and vomiting. Either during or after treatment, we give our patients tasty treats often including chicken, ham and sausages! This allows us to create a positive experience for your pet and have them excited to see us next time!

Please be sure to complete the food information on your pet's admission form so we are aware of any allergies or intolerances.

Chemotherapy starts at £300 per session for oral treatments and £400 per session for intravenous agents. The number of sessions and route of administration will depend on your pet's diagnosis and the chemotherapy protocol most suitable for their treatment following consultation with our oncologists.

Electrochemotherapy

Electrochemotherapy (ECT) can be employed in a variety of clinical scenarios. It is often used as a primary treatment for small mast cell tumours, sarcomas, or squamous cell carcinomas located in areas where definitive surgery may be challenging, such as the face or distal limbs. ECT also serves as an intraoperative adjunct to help achieve clear surgical margins following tumour excision or as a palliative treatment option in cases of disease recurrence. Additionally, evidence suggests that ECT may have activity against certain oral melanomas, which are known to be particularly challenging to manage.

We were the first practice in the country to take delivery of our Clinivet advanced electroporation machine, developed by Igea following extensive expertise in the human field. The suitability of ECT for you pet will be discussed in your consultation.

Electrochemotherapy starts at £2,150 per session.

Pain & Palliative Care

Certain cancers can be associated with pain. A comprehensive pain assessment is performed for each patient, and appropriate pain management strategies, including medications or referrals, may be recommended as part of their overall cancer care plan.

Given the nature of cancer, many of our patients are senior animals who may also be managing other conditions, such as osteoarthritis or dental disease. We aim to address both chronic and cancer-related pain through appropriate management and offer guidance on palliative pain relief options. Follow-up treatments, such as dental procedures, skin care, or hygiene interventions, are typically coordinated with your primary veterinarian. However, we may also provide some of these services directly when appropriate.
